The focus of the Media Manager will be to drive cost effective customer acquisition and support brand initiatives for Research In Motion, Ltd. (RIM) North America. The Media Manager will work closely with Brand, Product, Channel, e-Business and external agency groups to develop and execute multi-platform media programs that deliver against RIM's business metrics.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Manage media agency to create and drive execution of online marketing programs and initiatives that will achieve brand and business goals
* Provide expertise and oversee strategy and execution of all online marketing efforts, including display advertising, broadband video, affiliate marketing, email marketing, emerging digital/mobile media, and viral/word of mouth campaigns
* Determine budgets, time lines and resources needed to achieve campaign goals
* Collaborate with Brand Advertising Media Manager, media and creative agencies to ensure integrated approach across all platforms
* Manage monthly and quarterly media budgets to plan
* Effectively manage expectations with internal management
* Evaluate effectiveness of consumer and B2B online campaigns and work with agencies to provide appropriate benchmarks and projections
* Collaborate with media analysts and agencies to develop campaign performance optimization recommendations, and direct agencies to execute those recommendations
* Research target audience behavior and psychographics and brief agencies
* Gather industry research, competitive landscape information and trade intelligence for media strategy development and optimization
* Serve as day-to-day contact for, and foster relationships with internal product and marketing teams and external vendors to facilitate workflow
* Research and make recommendations on emerging technologies and new media
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
* Agency or client-side marketing experience (5-7+ years)
* Agency management experience a plus
* In-depth understanding of offline and online media buying fundamentals
* Experience in online marketing and website development cycle
* Direct experience with analytical tools (DART, Google Analytics, HBX) and online marketing metrics such as ROI, click-through rate, cost-per-click, conversion rate, average order size, etc.
* History of fostering partnerships to create innovative solutions
* Possess the initiative and ability to take ownership of projects
* Strong attention to details and demonstrated ability to run projects on budget, on schedule and on strategy
* Knowledge of research methods that yield deep understanding of business, competition and customers
